Movie: My Sassy Girl (2008)
Went to watch “My Sassy Girl” the other day.
I must admit that went in with not much enthusiasm for it, but left the cinema quite satisfied with the movie.
This movie is actually a remake of the highly successful 2001 Korean film of the same name. According to many online comments, the original Korean show was much better. However, as I didn’t watch the original Korean version, I felt the remake was decent, and quite pleasant to watch.
There are quite a few memorable parts of the movie…In fact, some of the quotes are still stuck in my head… haha.
“Jordan Roark: We have to stay alive, because we have to see how the story ends.”
“Charlie Bellow (or was it Charles?): If we never see each other again, and one day, you feel a certain presence beside you… that would be me, loving you wherever I am. “

The movie sassy girl is not for americans to remake. You see, the original movie is largely cultural (where in america will you find a 25 years old college student who lives with his parents and a 24 years old college student ultra domineering girl who ’s sole pasttime is too punch his boyfriend on the face). The director of the American Sassy girl has to make all necessary changes for the story to apply to american culture and in doing so it sucked out the fun that the original movie has presented to the asian moviegoers years ago.
You should watch the original movie. I have never I cried and laughed at the same time the way I did when I saw the korean sassy girl movie. It was too funny and too poignant at the same time. You really have to watch the korean sassy girl.

Looks like the American version didn’t do the original Korean version any justice…
If I can get my hands on the original movie, I would definitely watch it then…

hello gerald! long time no seeeeeeeee! hahahaha anyway that post on my sassy girl.. I didn’t watch the american remake of it but trust me man you’ve GOT TO watch the original korean version one because it simply rocks. It’s super touching and.. yeah brilliant. Although I watched it a damn long time ago, like I think when I was sec 1, on dvd or something, the movie is still like super highly ranked on my favourites list.
aiya, so the bottomline is, go and get the dvd now! and watch! sure won’t regret one! wahahahaha.
